The Question and Answer dialogue box will display and have three tabs at the top – Open, Answered and Dismissed. To view unanswered questions, select Open. Attendee asking question displays name 1b.

Attendee selected to ask question anonymously. Answer live — the question will be answered verbally in the webinar 2b. Type answer — the response will be typed for the attendees to view during the webinar. When a question is answered, the response can be sent to all attendees to view or privately to the attendee that asked the question.

If for any reason, you do not want to respond to question, you can dismiss or delete the question. To dismiss or delete a question, select the ellipsis at the top right corner of the question and select Dismiss or Delete. Think about who you are for a second, then think about who your audience is. Does the content of your webinar provoke thought? What kind of questions would you expect from this story?

Try recording a rehearsal of your presentation. Ask someone you trust to listen to the recording and ask a few questions based on what they heard. You need to shape your webinar in such a way that the questions asked will be meaningful to the rest of the audience. Learning your demographic will also allow you to better anticipate questions.

Is this group very familiar with your topic or are they new to the field? What are their priorities? What probably drew them to this webinar? Someone is going to want to break that awkward silence with a question that might not be very beneficial to the conversation at hand.

During those moments, for some reason, the willingness for audiences to ask questions dwindles as you go further into the webinar.

Instead, take a break of maybe 10 seconds in which you give the most active of attendees time to think of something they wanted to ask — 10 seconds is actually a long time when measured in silence!

You risk losing engagement that way, too! You can also remind your shy audience members that on Zoom Webinars, they can ask questions anonymously if they prefer. We hate telling you to purchase extra hardware, but it would be helpful to have two or more screens running or at least a supplementary tablet that can monitor feeds in other places like social media.
